Jesus said, God does not hear sinners, but what did he actually mean here?

Sin unconfessed will block prayers from being answered; but sins repented of will be forgiven, forgotten, and all unrighteousness cleansed ( 1 John 1:9 ). This only applies to Christians, as God will NOT hear an unsaved person UNLESS it is the prayer of salvation. Romans 3:23 talks about the condition of man before Jesus comes into our heart and we are born again. This is why the Catholic doctrine of Mary being sinless is a lie. Isaiah 59:1-2 and Psalm 66:18 shed more light on the effect of sin. Romans 10:8-10 is how to be born again, and have your prayers answered according to the will of God ( 1 John 5:14-15 ).
