Why would you think those are the only two choices? Neither are true. I believe that man, although born good, does have the inclination towards evil, He has a free choice to select either good or evil. While selection of evil can lead him away from the Good which is God, because of the actions of Christ our sin can be forgiven so that we may become one with Him.
