What do you do about your dogs in the snow?

I live in an environment that rarely (basically never) gets snow. Since there isn't ever any snow, I'm able to walk my dogs year-round, although I can only go on in the evening when the summer temperatures skyrocket in the daytime. The last time I lived in a snowy climate, I was a lot younger, so I don't know what happened with the family dog and walks. If you live or have lived in a place that gets snow, what do you do with your dog in the winter, especially those of you who have a very short haired dog or a low body fat dog (like an Italian Greyhound or something)?
