Need help with downloading a game to vista basic!?

ok i have a vista basic laptop. it has like over 100 gb on it and it is celeron and the video and sound cards are good.i have downloaded diner dash on it and when i put in it like virtual villagers nothing happens. i put it in then i here it spin then it like stops spinning after like a little bit!! ok is there a setting that i have to change to run computer games?? nad it is an acer
