Is Water Pump Lubricant a good to add to your car rad often? How often to add, how much & whats a good brand?

If there's any information you can think of to add about Automotive Water Pump Lubricants please add. My car is an 1986 Dodge 600 with 83,000km i don't have a problem but i just figure preventative maintenance is key. Is there any difference for Automotive lubricant for new & old cars?
