Am I being unfair or is my mother?

Presents should be suprises and not what you expect. Some people don't have the choice. When you get old enough to handle a job, you can buy what you want and get what you want. I think it's great that you love books. Maybe you can work and earn some money through your parents and buy it yourself. But let them pick what they want to get for you from they special feelings and thoughts.
